Chris Martin is Gracious in Victory at the Brit Awards
We do not know whether this is a compliment to the music industry or whether it is an insult to all other artists. According to Chris Martin, the reason why his band Coldplay won an award is because there weren’t any other choices. On one hand you may admire the modesty but on the other it could be an insult to the rest of the industry. What is the state of music in Britain at the moment? With the entrance of Adele, this country is finding its artistic roots. The people who have trained to penetrate the notoriously closed American market are beginning to see some signs of success.
Celebrating British music in all its glory
The award ceremony was held on the 21st of this month and the usual suspects were in attendance. It is rather shocking that Chris Martin would come up with such a statement after beating bands such as Kasabian, the Arctic Monkeys and Elbow. Would they consider it a proven fact that they offered no competition to Coldplay at all? They certainly came up with the prize for the Best British Group but one wonders whether the conceit of the band leader is going to turn this into yet another albatross that is hanging around the group.
You may not be able to argue against the reasoning that is used by Chris Martin in order to come to his conclusions. According to him most prominent British bands are not separated. He cites examples including Pulp, Blur and “Take that” who are on holiday at the moment. Nevertheless he says that he will be happy to accept the prize. The singer was in a rather jovial mood and actually joked that he might expand his business into fragrances. We are eagerly awaiting the reaction of the other people who were in the running for the gong.
