A Solo Debut for Jack White on SNL

He was supposed to be the guest that concentrated on the music side of things and Jack White did not disappoint when he appeared on Saturday Night Live. Some people may have missed the fact that this was his official debut as a sort of solo artist. The video has been making the rounds on the social media circuit and we have to admit that he was rather good. Perhaps this heralds a time when he will no longer have to worry about being part of a crowd before getting the chance to win. The sketch was well prepared and he responded very well to it.

Getting a grip on television without support staff

Of course he will miss his days with the White Stripes. Nevertheless the little that we have seen of him as a solo artist suggests that the move is not pig-headed. Here is a man that is more than able to hold the attention of an audience even when under intense pressure. The album Blunderbuss is due to be released on the 23rd of April and this was a great preview of what might come. His host was Lindsay Lohan and the duo complemented one another perfectly. The numbers that caught our eye were Love Interruption and Sixteen Saltines. The latter had a real debut because we had not heard it publicly before.

It was interesting to see how he was able to mix the rock style with lighter music in order to keep the audiences completely captivated. This is a man at the top of his game and we should not take anything aware from that achievement. He will return to the UK in the summer where he is scheduled to play on Radio 1 during the humorously named Hackney Weekend. You can catch him between 23 and 24th of June where he will be working with Lana Del Rey and The Maccabees.
