Dave Gahan from Depeche Mode Reveals 20 New Songs
He was not the composer but was kind enough to tell us that Depeche Mode have no fewer than 20 different songs lined up for their new album. That has to be a record when you consider the fact that many successful bands are able to get away with 7 or 8 songs as long as they have a marketing team behind them. Dave Gahan seemed rather pleased by the progress that his band was making and the fact that they were offering the audiences something that is rare to find; an album that is completed with all sorts of songs for different tastes.
Will the singles hit the top?
The thing with albums is that they are more than a sum of their parts. The singles may be good or bad but the general impression of the album as a whole will determine whether it remains a classic or whether it falls on the wayside. Dave Gahan is of the view that Depeche Mode is definitely going to be on the positive side with their new music. Certainly the fans will be eagerly anticipating all the new music that has been proposed with some level of curiosity as to whether they can really live up to the hype that is inevitably beginning to arise.
This will be their first LP since the Sounds of the Universe which came into our living rooms in 2009. Dave Gahan was giving an interview to the Rolling Stone Magazine when he described some of the hopes that they have for the project. Next month they are beginning the full record after the demos have been approved. It is something of a feat and the prodigious amount of work that must have gone into the project has to be appreciated. The fans can certainly look forward to something very special.
