What is going on with the Weird Video by Jack White?
There really is no accounting for taste. Jack White has just unveiled a bizarre video which is supposed to be accompanying ‘Sixteen Saltines’. If he wanted to shock the audiences then he has succeeded beyond his wildest dreams. This is a follow up on ‘Love Interruption’ a debut solo single that launched him into that side of the music business. It was directed by AG Rojas and has children being tattooed. You also get to see some scary dogs while a child is placed in a coffin. The singer is seen tied up in the back seat of a car while someone dowses it with petrol.
What can we make of the video?
There is a story out there but Jack White will have to break it down to the rest of the community because at the moment he is succeeding in raising the weird factor beyond his wildest dreams. Anyway ‘Sixteen Saltines’ has been released on 7” and digital downloads. At the beginning of the month ‘Freedom at 21’ was released as part of the process of promoting his new album titled ‘Blunderbuss’. There was a publicity stunt involving a helium balloon but it is not clear whether that trick worked in terms of getting the people to buy the record in their droves.
Those that fell for the stunt would discover some customized postcards. They hand instructions for the finder to submit their photograph as well as telling the label about where they had discovered the disc. You can hear the full version of ‘Blunderbuss’ which is coming out on the 23rd of April. Whilst giving an interview to NME the star said that it was unlikely that he would ever reform ‘The White Stripes’ which included his ex wife Meg White. In any case his solo career seems to be doing very well.
