Coldplay claim that flashing their Wristbands Costs them £400,000 a night

Isn’t that a bit of exaggeration? Anyway the soulful rockers ‘Coldplay’ have said that flashing their wristbands costs them a cool £400,000 per night. Apparently the band spends that money supplying their fans with similar flashing bands in order to light up according to the beat during the band’s concerts:

-      Bracelets…what bracelets? These are electronic bracelets which are becoming something of a fad for revelers across the globe. It is part of the Mylo Xyloto Tour memorabilia. The band has been filling their booked venues with vibrant colors as they performed hit after hit. Chris Martin has hinted that they may stop the gimmick because it is becoming too expensive for them.

Do you really believe that Coldplay is short of money?

According to their frontman, most of the money earned by ‘Coldplay’ is put straight back into the wristbands. He says that they have to figure out ways of keeping the gimmick going without becoming broke. It is a critical aspect of the concert and they have embraced the meme themes wholeheartedly.

Their guitarist Johnny Buckland has put a price on the famous bracelets saying that they cost the group in excess of $0.5 million each night. Although they hope to continue handing out the light devices without charge, the band is already hinting that the scheme may turn out to be unworkable. ‘Coldplay’ uses the bands to turn their concerts into ‘amazing’ experiences.

During an interview with Bauer Radio, Jonny said that the gimmick had elicited an amazing response and had helped to create a magical time on their concerts. At the moment there is no confirmation as to whether ‘Coldplay’ will use the wristbands when they start the 2nd leg of their North American tour next week. You can catch them in Texas.
