The song was performed at the House of Blues when the band was in Cleveland (Ohio).
- New material with a hint of old stuff: You can still catch the harmonic jingly jangly sound which the band has traditionally used. Meanwhile Vampire Weekend says that they have written about 80% of their upcoming album and are therefore ready to go. Ezra Koenig is their frontman and he says that the band chose to take its time following the release of their last full album.
A couple of weeks ago the band revealed that they have ’80 per cent’ of their new album written and ready to go, with frontman Ezra Koenig saying that they had been taking their time with the follow-up to the last album. He says that it has been an unusually long process because they were writing and recording at the same time. In addition they used some ProTools session demo in order to produce the finished product. However he is quick to reassure fans that they are nearly there.
Anticipating a new album from Vampire Weekend
Earlier on Ezra Koenig had been pressed on an actual release date but said that he was not in a position to give the public details. However he asserted that they wanted to release their music as soon as possible. At the same time the band does not have as much control over events as it would like. Vampire Weekend has been absent from stage for nearly two years. The quartet has pursued different journalistic and music projects in the interceding years.
Now they are back in business and will be headlining the Pitchfork Music Festival this weekend. Meanwhile they have arranged some warm-up dates in Chicago and New York. Later on their will return to the stage at the House of Blues in Cleveland. New songs have been prepared for these stops in order to keep the fans engaged. A YouTube poster has kindly downloaded the latest song from the band and has named it ‘New Song #2’. The song is quite interesting and even includes West African harmonies and guitar.
