Rachel Zeffira of Cat’s Eyes has unveiled a New Solo Album Titled ‘The Deserters’
Given the fact that this is a new solo album by Rachel Zeffira of ‘Cat’s Eyes’, the title ‘The Deserters’ is rather ironic. The multi-instrumentalist is working on her solo efforts and her new record features the East Londoners Toy and SCUM. The Canadian is actually a classically trained musician. She is the one half of Cat’s Eyes and works with Faris Badwan who is the front woman for ‘The Horrors’. Rachel’s debut album is set to be dropped on the 10th of December.
- More about the album: It was written and produced by the singer. She has opted to work with members of the East London psych rockers Toy as well as Melissa Rigby, the drummer from SCUM. During an interview she said that the album leans towards classical music because of the instruments that she has chosen to use. Apparently she wrote it on piano and then the melodies started to pour out.
The band was formed in 2010 and ‘Cat’s Eyes’ released their debut album which was self-titled in 2011. Rachel Zeffira says that the pair is already working on new material. However they will try to make it different from their previous efforts. For example there will be no ’60 Girl Group’ feel on their latest album. Moreover the artist has announced details of her debut solo show. It will take place on the 18th of October at the St. Andrew’s Church in London. It is clearly going to be a delicate balancing act between her solo career and the work that she is doing with ‘Cat’s Eyes’. There is no suggestion that there is tension at the moment.
In any case her release is part of the roundup of music news this week. Find out more by clicking the link below.
