Two Door Cinema Club have Unveiled a video for their New Single ‘Sleep alone’: It is a trippy affair
The verdict is out for the new video accompanying the single ‘Sleep Alone’ by Two Door Cinema Club. The indie trio from Ireland has ensured that the video is full of special effects. The video is primarily based on a nightmare scenario for a returning band. This is the first track to be taken from their forthcoming second album titled ‘Beacon’. In fact it appears that the three-piece group has adopted a far more epic sound than their debut album ‘Tourist History’. Many say that the video is CGI-heavy. Perhaps that is not entirely surprising given the fact that it was directed by the French filmmakers AB/CD/CD. This group previously worked with Lily Allen and Kasabian.
Will you be sleeping alone tonight?
Although the full album ‘Beacon’ is only going to be released on the 3rd of September, ‘Sleep Alone’ is already available to fans online. Meanwhile Two Door Cinema Club plan to play four live dates around the beginning of September. Here is an itinerary list:
4th Sep - Birmingham HMV Library
5th Sep - Manchester Sound Control
6th Sep - O2 Shepherds Bush Empire
7th Sep - Dublin Academy
The new clip sees the part joining a dream sequence where Alex Trimble falls from a skyscraper. He lands on his bed but is then chased by a gliding piece of furniture. Recently Two Door Cinema Club revealed that the song was inspired by Trimble’s troubled dreams which are partly induced by the misuse of drugs. The singer had admitted that he smoked cannabis in order to help him sleep when he returned from tour. That led to a host of nightmarish dreams.
Getting the stage ready for some major releases
The formal release of ‘Sleep Alone’ was on the 21st of July but at that point it was only a digital download. However on the 3rd of September, fans will be able to get a 7” single version. The follow up to ‘Tourist History’ was recorded in Los Angeles during April. Their producer was Jacknife Lee, the guy who is responsible for helping acts such as REM, U2 and Bloc Party. Apparently they worked in his home studio.
In any case Two Door Cinema Club has a fairly busy schedule. They will be playing at the Reading and Leeds festivals next month where the headline act is Justice. The band is also booked to make an appearance at the Bestival event. Watch their video here:
