Green Day have Unveiled a New Single Titled ‘Kill the DJ’
The title is controversial but that is not stopping Green Day from releasing their new single ‘Kill the DJ’. The pop punk trio is continuing with their staggered released of the three albums. ‘¡Uno!’ is the first in the series. It is the second track to be released from the album. Previously they dropped ‘Oh Love’ last month. The trilogy of LPs has been listed as ‘¡Uno! ¡Dos! ¡Tré!’. The albums will be released in three stages. The first album is ‘¡Uno!’ and it is scheduled to come out on the 24th of September. The second LP is ‘¡Dos!’ and will be released on the 12th of November. Finally they will drop ‘¡Tré!’ on the 24th of January next year.
Their previous studio album ‘21st Century Breakdown’ was released in 2009. Many have commented that the new albums represent a significant shift in the approach used by the artists. They are gradually shifting away from their habit of producing concept-driven records. Two documentaries have been prepared as part of the release schedule. The first is done by Tim Lynch. He is the producer who worked on their recent DVD project ‘Green Day: Bullet in a Bible’. They will also work with Tim Wheeler who co-produced and edited ‘The White Stripes under Great White Northern Lights’. He will focus on making the band’s trio of albums.
Lots going on for the band
Currently they are in the process of creating a second documentary which is primarily based on footage of their pre-Dookie days. You can catch Green Day when they headline the Summer Sonic Festival in Japan as well as the Rock en Seine festival in France. They are at the I-Day Festival in Bologna (Italy) on the 2nd of September. Two more shows are scheduled for August in Germany. If you can’t wait for that long then here is a clip:
