Jared Followill of the Kings of Leon has Debuted his Smoke & Jackal Side Project

A member of the Followill clan has started a new side project: Who can it be?

It is a case of ‘Smoke & Jackal’, when it comes to the side projects that Jared Followill has in mind. The high profile member of the ‘Kings of Leon’ has decided to do something different and the results are there for all to see. The Followill clan member teamed up with Nick Brown of Mona to produce the single ‘No Tell’. The side project is a change in direction for the bassist whose band has known its ups and downs including the moment when a member was accused of being drunk on stage.

The duo working on the new project has decided to release a six track collection titled ‘EP1’ on the 15th of October. They started recording together this year and ‘No Tell’ was soon ready for the market. According to reports the song was written on the first day of the collaborated and they recorded it at Brown’s home studio which is based in Nashville.

What do we make of the latest foray into side projects?

It is not surprising at all given the fact that virtually every musician worth their salt is doing the same thing. Anyway the duo finished recording ‘EP1’ within a week, an astonishing feat given their separate interests. The release will include songs such as ‘Safe Face’ and ‘EP1’. When asked about the collaboration Jared Followill was quite open. He said that working together just seemed like a great choice. They took the easy approach and it paid dividends.

Having talked about a few ideas, they decided to give it a go. Followill said that nobody hurt the other’s feelings. Meanwhile the Mona frontman Brown added that the tone and vibe of the project felt right and they went along with it. Judge for yourself on this clip:
