Ben Bridwell of ‘Band of Horses’ will appear on ‘Opposites’, the new Album by Biffy Clyro
Bridwell and Biffy are doing something together…watch out for an album.
In the age of collaborations it is not surprising that Ben Bridwell is going to feature in a new album ‘Opposites’ which was done by Biffy Clyro. The member of ‘Band of Horses’ is expected to add something special to the double album. This set is a follow up to ‘Only Revolutions’, the platinum selling LP for the Scottish trio which was released in 2009. You can catch their latest album in early May next year. Bridwell was interviewed about the collaboration and he said that he got an email from his manager via an A&R Rep asking if he wanted to sing a couple of songs. Being a fan of those guys, he decided that it was a great opportunity. In fact he could not believe that the request had been made and ‘freaked out’ at first.
The two acts get in touch to make music
Neil (Simon) the Biffy Clyro frontman got in touch with Ben Bridwell and they talked about the possibilities of the project. Months later on they decided that it was time to really do the project. At the time they were in the middle of their promotional cycles and they felt that it would be very difficult to find a second time. Bill (Reynolds) the bassist for the Bands of Horses worked with Ben to set up a little mic in their hotel room. They went for it and screamed as loud as possible.
At the moment the tracklisting for the album ‘Opposites’ is not yet confirmed but it is highly likely that Bridwell will do two songs on it. However we know that the singer is not likely to join the band live. Nevertheless he says that another collaborative effort could be in the pipeline. During the consultation he expressed the desire that they would sing the song ‘Dumpster World’ from the band’s new album. He even went as far as sending it to Simon so that he could be certain that it caught his ear. In the end they decided that this would be a deviation from their original intentions and the song was left out. He does not completely rule out the possibility of revisiting the project.
On the 17th of September Band of Horses will release their fourth album titled ‘Mirage Rock’. There is also a special performance of their latest single ‘Slow Cruel Hands of Time’ which is readily available online.
