Atoms for Peace (of Thom Yorke) has Unveiled a New Track Titled ‘Default’

AFP the supergroup will release a new single soon…listen for the signs.

On the 10th of September this year, Thom Yorke’s supergroup Atoms for Peace will release a new track titled ‘Default’. Already the single has been previewed on the iTunes network to critical and popular acclaim. Yorke is the dominant figure in the group that is closely associated with him. However there are other voices to consider. For example Nigel Godrich the longtime Radiohead producer has agreed to lend his hand to this project. They can also boast about the presence of Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Their drummer is none other than Joey Waronker and Mauro Refosco is on the percussion instrument.

Is this going to be successful by default?

It must be said that the supergroup has had to work for its critical acclaim and these are testy waters. They had an earlier release in August. This was a set of remixes which were released on the Monkeytown label, a major Modeselektor collaborator. One of the notable numbers was a remix of the band’s track titled ‘Other Side – Stuck Together’. You will remember that this was the B-Side to their single ‘Tamer Animals’ which was actually a remix of a track by Other Lives. That band supported Radiohead on tour. Are you confused yet?

During a DJ set at an LA club, Nigel Godrich debuted the latest Atoms for Peace songs. The pair played them during a session at Transmission LA: AV Club. This happened during a 17-day music and arts festival which was held at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles. It is interesting to note the fact that Mike D of the Beastie Boys curated the series. Many believe that these tracks will feature on the band’s debut LP which is rumored to come out sometime this year. Thom Yorke’s group Atoms for Peace has not yet confirmed these rumors and the ensuing speculation.
