Billy Corgan plans to write a Spiritual Memoir about Sex, Drugs and Rock ‘n’ Rock
Are you into sex, drugs and more? Corgan is here to help.
If there is anyone that knows about the rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle then it is Billy Corgan. The entertainment icon is planning what he refers to as a ‘spiritual memoir’. It is going to contain all the juicy details about sex and drugs, a main staple for all rockers worth their weight in salt. The singer has also confirmed that his band has begun work on a set that would be the follow-up to the successful project ‘Oceania’. The Smashing Pumpkins frontman is looking forward to presenting this autobiography.
From the studio to the real world
In June the band released ‘Oceania’. Now he is moving on to a book. Although he says that this is not a traditional rock ‘n’ roll autobiography, it will contain those essential aspects of the genre such as drugs and sex. During an interview with Billboard, the artist confirmed that the band was already working on a follow-up album which they hope to have released by December 2013. When he was asked about new material Billy Corgan said that he was thinking of it as a ‘rockin’ affair’. The December release date is admittedly ambitious given the fact that he is also working on a book project and has a number of tours in the interim.
In any case Corgan says that he has never been any good at writing while on tour. With the release of ‘Oceania’, the band marked their return to music making in the traditional album format. In the last few years the Smashing Pumpkins had concentrated on releasing their music straight onto the internet. This was all part of the ‘Teargarden by Kaleidyscope’ project. The interviewer asked him about albums and whether they were here to stay. He replied that they required a lot of energy and did not give the artist much return. The singer argues that in the old day the singers got a cut of the sales but the new digital age means that many people listen to records without having to actually pay for them. He also complained about how badly artists are treated until they start making the big sales. ‘Oceania’ was the band’s seventh studio release and it came out on the 18th of June this year.
