The new album ‘Lotus’ by Christina Aguilera will be released in November this year. However on Friday her new single ‘Your Body’ is going to hit the radio. It is taken from her upcoming ‘rebirth’ album. On Wednesday the star revealed the big news for her fans. She took to twitter to answer their burning question about her next effort. The title is meant to represent an unbreakable flower that is capable of surviving under the harshest conditions. It thrives on the hardest environment. A Lotus intro will set the tone for the entire record. She says that from a conceptual point of view, she did not want to target any particular sound. Rather she was aiming for self expression and freedom which are major themes within the album.
The album represents a rebirth for Christina
She has been the enduring face of ‘The Voice’ and has withstood the withering attacks from Kelly Osbourne of the Fashion Police but through it all Christina Aguilera has retained that irrepressible talent that took her to the top of the entertainment industry. Last month the lead single ‘Your Body’ was leaked. However now it will get its official release on Friday. A video will premiere on ‘The Voice’ Monday night but you will get a sneak preview on Friday.
The entire thing was shot in August and is directed by Melina Matsoukas. She directed ‘We Found Love’, the VMA winner by Rihanna. It was described as being playful and tongue-in-cheek. At the moment Christina Aguilera has not confirmed when the full video is going to be dropped. However the artwork has been revealed. She appears nude but with a blush-colored sheer piece of fabric to cover her modesty. This is a Max Martin club banger and the producer’s tilt is self evident. However she also confirmed that there will be some slower jams to come including some beautiful personal ballads. She insists that she would never do a record without them.
New releases and new beginnings
In fact Lotus is Christina Aguilera’s first major release since Bionic which was done in 2010. She kicked off the summer season by dropping new times and getting another slot as a judge on ‘The Voice’. Just recently she was teasing her fans by saying that she may take a break for the show’s fourth season.
