Billie Joe Armstrong has Entered Rehab
The Green Day challenges have spilled into parody: A Rockstar in meltdown.
Where is Amy Winehouse when you need her? Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day has checked into rehab after a spectacular meltdown. The rock legend checked himself into a clinic allegedly for substance abuse. This comes two days after an expletive-laden meltdown onstage during the band’s performance at the iHeartRadio Music Festival which was held in Las Vegas. A statement was hastily released on the band’s website confirming the news. They also let us know that the band’s set was cut short by Clear Channel. They apologized for all those that were offended by their antics at the event.
A concert most foul
Billie Joe Armstrong went into an amazing tirade at the end of the Green Day set (if you can call it that) on the 21st of September. Having become convinced that they only had one minute of their slot remaining, he complained about being cut short. Unfavorable comparisons were made with the Justin Beiber and yet they had been working in this industry since 1998. The conclusion was equally dramatic as he smashed his guitar on the stage with a parting shot.
According to the band’s representative Green Day have postponed an upcoming promotional appearance which was supposed to be supporting their new album ‘iUno!’ which came out on Monday the 24th of September. It is part of a trilogy that will be released over the coming months. Just last month the band announced a huge UK stadium tour but we are not clear whether that is in jeopardy as well. Tickets for the Emirates Stadium show will start being sold on the 28th of September this year. The actual show will take place on the 1st of June next year. The fans will be hoping that Billie Joe Armstrong is feeling better by that time.
