Miguel Releases New Album ‘Kaleidoscope Dream’
The Grammy-nominated songwriter
and singer has released his
new album, where his current No. 1
hit ‘Adorn’ was taken from.
R&B artist Miguel has released his sophomore album ‘Kaleidoscope Dream.’ The CD includes his current hit track ‘Adorn,’ which has been topping the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Chart for the third consecutive week now.
In an interview, Miguel revealed that ‘Adorn’ is one of his personal favorites. He admitted that he is surprised the track is connecting to a lot of people today. The song, which he wrote and produced on his own, features a sultry tone that sets the mood for the entire album. It has a seductive melody combined with calming chords.
‘Kaleidoscope Dream’ also features other outstanding tracks. ‘Don’t Look Back’ describes the predicament of people who regret the reality after a wonderful night. ‘Use Me’ is characterized by the blend of rhythm and blues with powerful yet subtle elements of rock. ‘Do You…’ is unique because it starts with an acoustic drive. An island band picks up on the second verse of the song.
The album has interesting collaborations. He has worked with J. Cole for ‘All I Want is You.’ Wale was hired to record along with him the track ‘Lotus Flower Bomb.’ ‘How Many Drinks?’ is inquisitive but very ‘Miguel.’
Miguel apparently wants to use ‘Kaleidoscope Dream’ as a reminder to everyone that R&B puts hip-hop and rock together. He reiterates that R&B is not a stereotype but a genre.
He has kicked off the CD release through several TV performances, including his guest appearances in ‘106 & Park’ and ‘The Wendy Williams Show.’ He is also set to do the rounds in the coming weeks to promote the album. He will guest in ‘The Late Show with David Letterman’ and ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live.’
