Nas Releases Music Video of Track with Amy Winehouse

The American rapper has released
the video of his collaboration
with the late singer before the
release of her own box-set.

Nas has released the music video for his single ‘Cherry Wine,’ a track from his latest CD ‘Life is Good.’ The song features the late Amy Winehouse. The single was recorded before Winehouse died in July last year. It is the second collaboration between the American rapper and the English singer following the release of the track ‘Like Smoke,’ which was included in Winehouse’s 2011 album ‘Lioness: Hidden Treasures.’

The music video, directed by Jay Martin, featured haunting projections of the deceased soulstress. Her image was projected against a brick wall within a dimly lit bar. A look-alike of the late singer did a stand-in impression as Nas sang his lines through the soulful arrangement.

Interestingly, in one of his recent interviews, Nas told the press that at first he was not into the idea of recording a duet with Winehouse. He was referring to the first collaboration, which started recording in 2008. However, as they got to know each other, Nas found out that he had so many things in common with Winehouse. He said she was able to make him laugh with her opinions especially about people she did not like.

The release of ‘Cherry Wine’ music video preceded the release of the posthumous box-set (four CDs) of Winehouse, ‘Amy Winehouse at the BBC,’ which is set to be out on November 12. The special will include her performances at ‘Live at Jools Holland’ and a documentary entitled ‘Amy Winehouse – The Day She came to Dingle.’

Nas’ 10th studio album ‘Life is Good’ has already sold more than 300,000 copies since its release in July. It is one of the critically acclaimed CDs today. ‘Cherry Wine,’ on the other hand, is the fifth single and music video released from the album.
