Lady Gaga Reaches Record Number of Twitter Followers
The popular entertainer just set another record in Twitter.
Lady Gaga has set a new milestone in her career. Last weekend, the controversial singer reached the 30 million followers mark on popular social networking site Twitter. It is a feat that no other popular artist anywhere in the world has achieved.
The fan base of the entertainer continues to grow especially on Twitter. Her strong following on social media is considered an indication of her effectiveness to connect with her fans. She was the first ever person to have 10 million followers in Twitter in March. In May, that number increased to 20 million. Now, she has hit the 30-million mark.
According to analysts, Lady Gaga’s Twitter account is adding about 30,000 new followers from all around the globe each day. With this rate, the number of her followers may reach 50 million by the middle of April 2013. Some experts think her concert tour is helping her reach out to more fans, which in turn translate to more followers on the social networking site.
Lady Gaga has exceeded the popularity of other stars in Twitter. Her account now has more followers than the accounts of Justin Bieber (who has 28 million followers), Katy Perry (who has 27 million followers), and Rihanna (who has 26 million followers).
According to some marketing experts, Lady Gaga may have earned around $30 million through her Twitter account. It was not clear how that estimate was reached. However, her online fan base continues to rise.
Meanwhile, several skeptics doubt this achievement. According to Status People, a social media firm, up to 71% of Lady Gaga’s Twitter account followers may possibly be fake accounts. The firm also thinks that the fan base of the entertainer in the social media Website may have been inflated due to spamming accounts or ‘bots’ of followers.
